"I am a customer of State Farm for 55 years for home owners insurance. In July, 2021, made my very first claim for roof damage to house and detached garage due to durecho. Philip Stueve is my agent and he and his staff have worked with me and State Farm Claims Dept. thru the process. I faced some stumbling blocks, delays, etc., and was in contact with Phil and staff throughout. Claim finally approved and shingles installed Oct., 2021. Within 3 weeks, a rain storm hit...nothing real strong, but shingles flew off. Roofing company came and agreed they installed wrong quality shingles and assured they would be back in matter of days to replace, at no added cost, the proper quality/grade that State Farm and I had paid for in full. That was the last time I ever heard from them....never came back, would not return calls, etc. I met with Phil and, as I knew, State Farm was not liable to pay for another roof. He was helpful in suggesting some alternative avenues that may help without more money out of pocket. His suggestions were to file a claim with IA Atty General. I did, and not what they could help with; then went to IA Better Business Bureau, but they could not help because the roofing company has an out-of-state parent location. At last, I filed with IL BBB and went through the process. I am a record keeper, thank goodness, as it is important to have your detail. Thanks to the BBB suggestion from Phil, I did prove my case. I am pleased to say I have a correct roof on house and garage as of 10/28/2022. What a process....but I thank Philip Stueve for being there to guide me and put this claim to a close.
